Overview

This course aims to develop the knowledge and practical skills which are required to teach young learners effectively. It provides practical ideas on how to approach and plan for young learner courses as well as materials and ideas for specific activities. The course is based on teaching practice and lesson evaluation, and is overtly practical in content and approach.

Learning outcomes: 

  • Be able to transfer and apply their awareness of language and knowledge of the description of English from an adult to a young learner context.

  • Develop an initial understanding of the context within which young learners learn English, their motivations and the roles of the teacher and learner.

  • Be able to transfer, adapt and apply the principles of effective teaching from an adult to a young learner context.

  • Develop an initial awareness of appropriate resources and materials for use with young learners for teaching, testing and for reference.

This course is perfect for both newly qualified teachers who have limited or no experience in teaching young learners and experienced teachers who wish to polish their teaching skills. Participants gain knowledge and skills in teaching children aged 3-10 years old.

Experienced teachers who teach age groups from 3: 10 years maximum.

Distance Learning
For the self-guided, busy individual who wants full control over their learning. With this mode you will be given 24/7 access to the Learning Management System where you will find all course information and resources, Then you can study and submit assignments at your own pace. You will still have access to a tutor should you have any questions.

 

Hybrid Learning
With this mode of learning, you will receive all the benefits of Distance Learning plus up to twelve hours of one-to-one support with an expert tutor who will guide you through the course. The schedule is flexible and will be determined between yourself and our admission team in the UK upon enrolment.

 

Virtual Campus

On the Virtual Campus, you’ll meet weekly with like-minded students from all over the world to engage in close-nit discussions of key subjects and discuss real workplace experiences. This is a great opportunity to network with other professionals from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. You’ll still get all the benefits of a Distance Learning student.
